Avon's Arrived || Brochures 04 & 05!

Hello everyone!

So today I've got a few things to show you that I bought from the last couple of Avon brochures including some super exciting new products!

Let's all ignore the fact that at first glance I seem to have gone for a monochrome theme since I didn't even realise until I came to write this post.
But anyway, I have been so excited by some of the new products that Avon are releasing as I think they are trying to branch out to a younger target audience (no complaints from me!).

This is the Ideal Flawless Cream Concealer in the shade Fair. This is basically a highly pigmented cream concealer with medium coverage. I really like this as although it is a cream product, it isn't too thick which makes it easy to blend out. I have the lightest of three shades, and it is a great eye cover-up/highlight colour. Another massive pro is that it has a really smooth finish and doesn't tend to crease under my eyes. I think this is the best concealer that Avon does and I'd recommend it to anyone!

This winter I have been seriously loving matte nails, and although Avon has sold matte formulas in the past, they have revamped the whole product to give the Magic Effects Matte Nail Enamel. I bought the shades White and Black as these are super wearable colours for everyday. The formula of these polishes are really nice and they last well without chipping.

Next is a different item to what I normally get from Avon and it is the Floral Clusters Drama Necklace in White. I don't tend to get much jewellery from Avon (apart from my beloved rose-gold watch) and I just think it is all a bit old for me and I wouldn't personally wear it.  However this necklace really caught my eye. It is a gold chained statement necklace with three white floral-designed clusters. I think this is a really good necklace to have as you can pair it with tonnes of different looks.

Lastly, Avon has released a new colour selection of their Ultra Colour Indulgence Lipstick. This is a really smooth gel-like formula, which although is sheerer than the other lipsticks, creates that super plump glossy lip. I got the shade Tawny Rose which is a dark pink/brown nude. This colour is a perfect 'your lips but better' shade and because it is SO glossy, you don't need to wear a lipgloss over the top which I love!

Have you tried any of these products too?

Monthly Favourites || October 2014

Hello my lovelies!

October was a pretty crazy month for me as it included my 18th birthday *woop woop* but I've finally got around to writing my October favourites!

So let's start with make-up...

I had a slight moment in the middle of Next when I saw a tiny little NYX stand at the other end of the shop and did a quick shuffle over to it. I didn't even realise that they were selling NYX on the English high street, but obviously I picked up a few things. I had never tried NYX before but I think it's safe to say that I love their products! So the first thing I've been loving is the NYX Blush in the shade Mocha. I wanted a darker autumnal shade, and this deep pink/red shade is really perfect and super easy to blend. Obviously everyone and their dog has raved about NYX blushes on the internet, and I'm so glad I have tried one out as I now know why!

Next thing is the Soap and Glory Archery brow pencil in the shade Hot Chocolate. This is just such a good brow product - you can use it to define the edges or fill in sparse areas of your brows and it always looks great. The colour is really natural and not too red which I find some brow products to be, and paired with a good brow gel makes the perfect brow!

I've been absolutely obsessed with the Kiko Smart Lip Pencil in the shade 712 which is another Kylie Jenner-esque pink/mauve nude shade. I've been loving this lip colour for autumn, and this lip pencil has been so useful; whether I use it to define my lips or just use it all over the lips, it creates such a gorgeous 90's lip.

I've already talked about the NYX Matte Lipstick in the shade Whipped Caviar in my most recent post (Autumn 2014 Favourite Lip Colours), but I had to put it in here too as I've literally nearly used up the whole bullet. It's another pink/mauve nude shade but it has a matte finish which is my favourite type of lip to wear.

I've also been loving using my Real Techniques Contour Brush to apply and blend out concealer under the eyes. I don't tend to use the brush to apply contour, and so have been using it under the eyes as it has the perfect tapered end to allow super easy concealer application. The softness of the brush is also really nice and not too harsh on the sensitive skin, and it blends out the concealer really well.

Obviously there would be a nail varnish in my favourites, and honestly autumn is my favourite time for nail varnishes as I love wearing darker colours as the weather starts to get colder. One I've been constantly reaching for is the Barry M Matte Nail Paint in the shade Black Espresso. I'm sure I've talked about it before, but I always end up going back to this formula of nail varnish as they are so quick and easy to apply, and come in a great variety of autumnal shades.

Lastly we have the film Rock of Ages. Now you might think this is a bit random, but I'd heard loads about the musical in theatres, and couldn't resist watching given how much I love a good musical, and I have to admit that I'm hooked. I've watched the film so many times now and have actually booked tickets to go and see it in London during November! It is such a good musical made up of classic 1980s rock songs - obviously I wasn't around in the 80s but still found myself singing along to most of the songs! This is such a good film, and I'd highly recommend seeing it even if it is just for the songs!

Hope you enjoyed reading my October Favourites!

Autumn 2014 Favourite Lip Colours!

WELL HELLO EVERYONE!
It's been a long couple of months, but I'm finally back to business starting with one of my favourite beauty products; LIPSTICK.
Autumn is without a doubt my favourite season. Nothing beats snuggling up with lots of layers and lighting a few candles in the evenings. Autumn is also the season for my favourite colours from nudes to berry or jewel tones, and on an especially cold day deep, vampy red shades.

So lets begin with my top picks for Autumn 2014...

This Autumn I have been slightly obsessed with matte pink/brown nudes shades (think Kylie Jenner-esque colours), but you also can't go through this season without a few darker shades too!

So first of all we have the Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in the shade 01. This is a bold red shade which isn't too bright or too dark. All of the Kate Moss lipsticks are really creamy and smooth to apply whilst also being really opaque. I love to wear this lipstick with just plain eyes or a bold eyeliner flick, and it is great for bringing colour to a monotone clothes look.

Next is the Avon Matte Lipstick in Matte Mauve. I have been loving matte lip products SO much lately, and this is a really cheap Kylie Jenner style lip colour. It's a quite dark pink/mauve nude which dried to a semi-matte finish. I really like this colour when I want a less bold lip, but still a darker colour.

This is my favourite lipstick at the minute, and I've practically been wearing it everyday! It's the Nyx Matte Lipstick in the shade Whipped Caviar. This is another Kylie Jenner style colour, but it is a bit lighter than the Avon shade. It is more of a mauve-nude, but has such a lovely matte finish, Warning: sad story alert... When I went to reapply this at school one day, the whole bullet of lipstick fell out of the tube and so I had to push it back in (so excuse the mess of the tube). I hope that that's just the one I picked up and not all of their lipsticks, as I'm seriously in love with Nyx Lipsticks at the minute!

Next is the Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy in the shade Intense Nude. I got this particular lipstick right at the end of Winter earlier this year, so hadn't got much wear out of it, but this Autumn I've been making up for that! This is another pink/brown nude colour, but is noticeably more brown than the others. Due to the high quality of the formula, you can really tell it is a nourishing product to apply, and the money is really worth it for such a beautiful lip colour.

Lastly is a product which I have been loving to use as an alternative to a glossy nude lip, and that's the MUA Luxe London Velvet Matte Lipgloss in the shade Tranquility. These lip cream type products have become really popular, and MUA do a really cheap alternative to the more expensive ones. Fair enough this product may not have great staying power, but I've really been loving the colours; especially this light brown nude shade. You apply the product like a gloss to your lips, and then it dries to a super matte finish. It does tend to rub away from the middle when eating, but it seems to withstand drinks quite well. This product is just really good for a different lip look at a really cheap price!

Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post!

Avon's Arrived || Recent Brochure Purchases!

Hey Guys!

So first of all, hello! I hope you all still remember my little space on the internet as it's been so long since I posted! I've just been super busy, but now it's the summer holidays, and I've got lots of plans for exciting posts for the future, so stay tuned! Secondly, IT'S SUMMER! That means sun and relaxing, and even though I've actually got quite a bit of school work to do, I'm so happy to just have some time off. So anyway back to today's post. Obviously I've missed a few Avon's Arrived posts and so I thought that I'd just share with you the things I've got and have been loving from the most recent brochures!

In my opinion, Avon has been releasing some really exciting new products for summer, and I've just been loving all of their products recently! First thing I want to talk about is the new Avon Solutions BB Gentle Beauty Balm Matte.

This has been my absolute go-to product in the recent abnormal heat in England. So obviously there is a lot of BB creams on the market nowadays, but I'm so much more attracted to this for all of the different qualities it has. A big winner for me is the matte element, as oily skin is bad enough with heat as well, and I do find that this keeps my skin oil free for a decent amount of time. It also has SPF15 and is hypo allergenic, and this just makes it even better for use in the summer. It has quite strong orange undertones, and I have the shade Light which can be a bit dark on me, but with a tan, good blending or bronzer, it really creates a natural, smooth finish to the skin.

Another new product range from Avon is certain products that come in different shades specific for eye colours. This is one of the new range of colours of the Avon True Colour Eyeshadow Quad in the shade Satin for Browns.

There is four new quads for brown, blue, green and hazel eyes, all with colours that compliment that specific eye colour to enhance them. I have brown eyes, so have gone for this palette, and  I absolutely love it! Before this I hadn't really tried any blue toned eyeshadows, but after trying it out I am really enjoying it. These Avon quads are so great, each shade is numbered, and related to a specific part of the eye. For this palette, there is 1-a matte white shade for highlighting, 2-a shimmery light pink shade for the lid, 3-a light grey/blue partly shimmery shade for crease work, and 4-a quite bright navy blue for the outer v area. I've used all of these colours together, and they create such a nice look, which can be subtle for daytime, or made more dramatic with the darker shades. Avon eyeshadows are also really creamy and pigmented, with good staying powder, so if you're looking for a really useful palette, this will be your new best bud!

Next is the Avon Ultra Colour Bold Lipstick in the colour Pink Punch. So these lipstick formulas aren't new, but they have revamped some of the colours for a 'bold' range.

There is a huge variety of new colours going from pinks to oranges to deep plums, and I went for a summery colour, and wow these are bright. I don't really think the photo does this lipstick justice, as it is the brightest pink lipstick with a tiny orange hint. The actual formula is also very good; they have a creamy texture for smooth application, and last for ages without smudging. The main thing about these lipsticks for me is the amazing value for money. I think these cost around £5, and for the high quality lipstick you're getting, it is SO worth it.

Another great product for summer is the new Avon Extra Lasting Eye Shadow Ink. Obviously as part of the 'Extra Lasting' range, these products are designed to have a long staying power, but with eyeshadow on hot summer days, I can still find that most powder eyeshadows will end up creasing.

With these 'inks' it just means that your eyeshadow will stay even longer. I've got the colour Forever Bronze which is a high-shimmer dark bronze shade. Now obviously you can wear these alone as the colour payoff is really good, but I've been loving using it on top of primer and under eyeshadow to give more depth and staying power to bronzey looks.

Lastly is another new product which comes in a range of shades based on eye colour; the Avon Outstanding Eyes Dual-Ended Kohl Eyeliner, and I have the shade Brown Shimmer.

This is simply a two sided eyeliner, one dark side for definition and drama, and the other for highlighting. So for brown eyes there is a dark brown end which has a slight gold shimmer, and I've been wearing this in the upper tight line and smudged into the outer upper lash line. The other end is a shimmery cream-nude shade, that is intended for the bottom tight line/lash line and highlighting. I have very watery eyes, and so wasn't overly impressed when this side didn't stay in my water line, but it is great to use as an inner-corner highlight and brow highlight. There are many eyeliners about which offer the same as this, but I just think it's super useful to have both shades in one!

So I hoped you enjoyed reading, and keep your eyes peeled for lots of posts throughout August!

Review & Swatches || New MAC Products #1

Hey Guys!

So as you may have seen in my most recent beauty haul post, I treated myself to two new MAC products, and I thought that I'd review them today!

So first is the MAC Creemsheen Lipstick in the colour On Hold.

So I went into the MAC store knowing that I wanted a wearable red lipstick, and the woman recommended a few, but I swayed towards On Hold because it's a Creemsheen formula which means it's really hydrating and moisturising on the lips. On Hold is a slight off red colour, with pink/blue undertones, and a fine gold shimmer through it. Alone on the lips (well on me personally) it applies with a more pinky finish, but with red lip-liner, it is very red. It's quite a bright red, so will be great for spring and summer, and because of the variation in actual colour, it can go with loads of outfits. It has gold shimmer which gives it a slightly coral appearance, but that really compliments warm skin tones, and looks so nice and shiny. The lipstick lasts really well, and isn't drying at all, so overall I'm slightly in love with this lipstick!

Next is the MAC Eye Shadow in the beautiful shade Expensive Pink which is a Veluxe Pearl formula.

So as you can see this is a very glamorous pinky-coral shade with gold glitter running through, and I got this shade because I thought it would be perfect for glam spring/summer looks, since the gold and coral tones will look amazing on tanned skin. The actual shadow is not totally opaque, but you can easily build up the colour. I really like the formula as well since it's so soft and easy to apply. I think it's a great shadow to work with, because you can simply wear it on its own or you can use it as the base to a super-glam smokey eye!

Thanks for reading!

Review || The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick

Hey Guys!

So as you may have guessed, I've been adoring deep red lip colours this winter, and I think I'm going to say it - this is my favourite lipstick! A big accolade to have, but this lipstick really deserves it, because it really is such a good product. I'm talking about the Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in the shade 125 Crazy Sexy Crimson.

Ahh, it's just so beautiful. So yeah, I've mentioned these Body Shop lipsticks in previous posts ( for example my berry-pink shade in my Favourite Winter Lip Colours Post http://hobbsessed.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/favourite-winter-lip-colours.html ) but I've recently purchased this shade, and I'm absolutely in love with it!

First its the most perfect dark red shade, quite purpley, but not too brown, and I just really love this colour and I think it really suits people with dark hair. If you wear a little bit and sort of blend it out, you can have not such a bold colour, but I like to wear it nice and bold.

The formula is so soft and it's quite balmy, and can be quite transparent, but when you build it up you get a lovely opaque colour. It also has moisturising qualities, so it doesn't dry up your lips throughout the day which is an added bonus! It doesn't necessarily last for ages, but seeing as it has no long lasting claims or anything, you don't really expect it to last for hours; but unless you are either drinking or eating something, it generally tends to stay on until you do.

It has a faint rose scent, but I'm not the biggest fan of this, and sometimes doesn't taste very nice, but you don't really notice it for very long, so it's only a minor disadvantage. These lipsticks are also quite cheap, and I honestly just believe that it is one of my favourite ever lipsticks.

There are loads of shades in this range of lipsticks; paler nudes to brighter pinks/oranges and a great range of reds, and I think there there will be a great colour for everyone! Teamed with the great moisturising benefits and colour payoff, I would suggest this lipstick to anyone, and just think it's a brilliant product with my perfect colour! WOO!
